Let me tell you a story of how I came to be, It started under a weeping willow tree, Those shadows became my friends, But Plato warned that this would end. I should find reality, I should see. Lost my dog when I was three, He was dangerous to me, Backwards, foaming, deaf and blind, He bit me close to Christmas time. I was scared as I should be, How could he? That was my reality. God was right in front of me, Smiling down allegedly, I stepped up to smile in kind, And quickly learned that I was blind, Lonely as this world can be, I was free. Now just past 33, These things no longer bother me. Trees are rich, and forests bloom, I can see myself in you, Walking with my legacy. I can see. I shape my reality.

I can see my daydream, Pinch me, I tend to sleep. Closing in, I’m counting sheep, Hope to complete me, Hoping you’ll meet me halfway, In this wonder factory... I dream in what I see, A typical day to me, All these colors washing me, With hand grenades and mime charades, Watching all my time away, Please stay, In this wonder factory. Plot line sticks it to me, Monsters and hero’s to be, All these dreams, they're running free. Hoping I can one day, Measure up to all of them in real ways, In this wonder factory. Know me well, I’ll know me, Time will end, as will we. But not without our memory Every opportunity to stay, In this wonder factory.

Welcome my son, Welcome to the machine. Where have you been? It's alright, We know where you've been. We chase misprinted lies, We face the path of time, And yet I fight... And yet I fight this battle all alone, No one to cry to, No place to call home. My gift of self is raped, My privacy is raked, And yet I find... And yet I find repeating in my head, If I can't be my own, I'd feel better dead. Welcome my son, Welcome to the machine. Where have you been? It's alright, We know where you've been.

I'm on a road to find the truth, No one tells me what to do, Can you tell me what to do? No. Oh, when I reached out to you, saw my hand go through you, You can reach out to me too, Write it down, it must be true, Say it 'til your face is blue. I know just what I'm going through, I keep my lights on, How 'bout you? Do you own what you do? Write it down, it must be true, Say it 'til your face is blue, Hear it like it's meant for you, Whatever gets you through. I'm on a road to find the truth, No one tells me what to do...

Drown me... An aching heart and a bleeding back, I didn't react, I want back what I never had. Drown me feeling sad, And take away what I never had. Tell me how long can you breathe, Underwater next to me? Mirrors reflect a strange man, And pictures tell a lie, Weight too great to bear, Looking back; nobody's there. Drown me... / Slow down, Don't let that fool push you around, I'm here when you're down, Look around...look around...

It's strange how things can fall apart, Live your days like a king, Then the walls gave in. The levee broke and left us dead, The cost of silence in my head, Pennies for sense, And minutes for change, Nothing lost and nothing gained, Please, release me... Reimagine all I know, All that I have cared for, A mind that's clearly scared, Or simply failing from a falling star, Or wailing from a forming scar, Please, release me... Tattooed to peeling skin, Snakes and apples, Original sin, Open sea, Afraid to go to sleep, Go to sleep, Go to sleep.. Release me...

I'm old, Brittle as a stone, And I'm cold, Hands fold on a buttoned coat. Don't stand alone, I'm cold too. My bones, Restless and alone, Unfold, You're not to be unknown. Don't stand alone, I'm cold too. Hold onto this song, I won't be long, I won't belong, Right here, I know you're near, Come on and stay strong, I won't be long.

Imagine there's no heaven, It's easy if you try, No hell below us, Above us only sky. Imagine all the people living for today. Imagine there's no countries, It isn't hard to do, Nothing to kill or die for, And no religion too. Imagine all the people living life in peace. You may say i'm a dreamer, But I'm not the only one, I hope some day you'll join us, And the world will live as one. Imagine no possessions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man.

Shades of grey, Seems now black and white are gone forever, Sewn together, Weathering temperance, Reaching with my pinkies toward a god, Screaming from a silent pod, Soldered to a smiling pea, All within, Being with me. Trying desperately to climb above a cause, It's like every side can be seen, Depending on my mood, I do, I can justify peace and justify you. But what is justice, And who am I to trust it, It just goes on and on and on. One idea leads me to another, What does reason uncover? That all these questions that I can't get out, Are just what black and white are all about.

Well come listen to a story about a man named Jed, Poor mountaineer, Barely kept his family fed, Then one day he was shooting at some food, When up from the ground came a bubbling crude. (Oil that is, black gold, texas tea) Well the first thing you know, Ol' Jed's a millionairre, Kin folk said, Jed, move away from there. They said California is the place you oughta be, So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly. (Hills that is, swimming pools, movie stars) Well now it's time to say goodbye to Jed and all his kin, They would like thank you folks for kindly dropping in, You're invited back again to this locality, To have a heaping helping of their hospitality. (Beverly Hillbillies, that's what they call them now, nice folks, y'all come back now, ya hear)

Take a breath and see it now, It's the same old story with a different sound, You fight for one thing and change it back, The final outcome is dressed in black, It's dressed in black. Destiny had this world in mind, Looked in the mirror with nothing to hide, The rain fell down and soaked our skin, Knowing tomorrow, there's nothing left to win, Nothing left to win. And we see, There's too much pain around. Couldn't it be different if we lowered our arms, And fought for something right? The mourning starts with a car in the drive, Two bold men are sitting inside, She turns her head to avoid the truth, What she has lost is the most anyone can lose, More than she could lose. It's not right to fight for a cause that was never there at all, It was never there at all.

A pool to dive, A pool to die, With water I could still survive, But here a dive, And there a floor. You've tricked me then and there before. Can you drain a beaten pool, Of endless parts of shattered hearts? Or is hell to thick to drain out? It's the winter and I'm gone now. Roulette with hearts is where pain starts, And it's where it ends, As hopeless friends, With a grudge of truth tattooed to you. It's the winter and I'm gone now.

Hypocrites and hypnotisms, Fuzzy eyes define our time, Derived from cause, Effect our laws, Are colors on a painting of our age... Here and now: what we can change, And so the future will uphold the ripples left from old, So boldness seems to be the key to break from fallability, Makes objectivity an impossibility. Pin pricks and prose, Mine and my own, Will it to go, Go away. Mind into, Matter to, Me in the, Context of, You are a, Dream that is subject to change, You can change. Heels of a star tell us who we were, not are... Black footprints will scar, And the pendulum swings on... Schizophrenic mimes dousing you and I, With confusing metaphors, A two way door to who you are...

I wake the day, You go and I stay, What sense does it make? You tend to look the other way... All I want is simple easy... All I want is simple easy... You wake the day, I had to go away, What sense does it make? I know what you're thinking anyway... All I want is simple easy... All I want is simple easy...

And I know You can’t be Where I am Tonight But I speak Like you hear me Where you are Tonight Will I get through tomorrow Knowing how it’s a drain to you? Will I get through the hollow thoughts If they sink my mind in too? What’ll the nightmare do? What’ll it take you to? And I know It’s the same As it was Tonight But I need To believe you’ll be On the run Tonight Can I get you to borrow My stolen memories of you? Would it kill you to follow Somebody drifting out of view? What’ll the nightmare do? What’ll it take you to? And when the light bleeds through I will think of you And how you would sleep so still And I will steal the reins Pretend to run away But stay like you never will 2 / 2 Keep the blood I was meant to spill And I know When you came I became Something else Like a dream Can reveal a need You led me To myself Can I get to the heart of why I can’t find the words to say Why I need you to memorize The fermented forgotten days What if the nightmare stays? What’ll it take away? And when the light bleeds through I will think of you And how you would sleep so still And I will steal the reins Pretend to run away But stay like you never will Keep the blood I was meant to… The bottled golden years The milk of fertile fears That lead to a love fulfilled And I will steal the reins Pretend to run away But stay But stay I will stay.

about

In celebrating the first 20 years of recording music (see the Vicennial I collection), it seemed necessary to also clear the shelves of the tracks that never made it onto an EP/LP. So we introduce "b theory studios I: the Freewheels."
